David Koster, SWLA (1926-2015) was a well-known printmaker and painter, especially known for his images of birds, fish, insects and wildlife generally. He was educated in Sussex and studied art for three years at the Slade School in London, followed by two years National Service spent mainly in the Far East. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1965 and was a founder member of the Society of Wildlife Artists. David Koster worked mainly as a lithographer, etcher, and artist in woodcut. He lived in Plockton in the west of Scotland in the 1950s and moved to Folkestone in Kent in 1966 in order to take up a teaching post at Folkestone School of Art. In 2005 Wildside Books published the book David Koster, Artist, Printmaker and Naturalist.
