Alexander McNeish (1932-2000) was a Scottish artist. Born in West Lothian, he attended the Edinburgh College of Art between 1952-57 studying under John Maxwell. Taught at Wolverhampton College of Art in 1962, and spent a significant time as head of painting at Exeter College of Art and Design from 1965 to 1980. ‘Mac’ was an extravagant figure in the 1960s Edinburgh art scene, and became close friends with Albert Irvin. Exhibited at the Arts Council, 57 Gallery, the Scottish Gallery and the Stone Gallery in Newcastle.
