Barbara Tribe (1913-2000) was a well-known Australian artist who spent the majority of her career in Cornwall, United Kingdom. Born in New South Wales, Australia, she enrolled at East Sydney Technical College and studied under English sculptor George Rayner Hoff, assisting him in sculpting the Anzac Memorial in Sydney's Hyde Park. After being awarded the New South Wales Travelling Art Scholarship in 1935 she moved to London joining the RA schools. Barbara lived in London throughout WW2.  After marrying in 1947, she and her husband moved to Penzance where she set up a studio. Tribe exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Society of Women Artists, the Women's International Art Club, Royal Cambrian Academy and with the St Ives and Newlyn Societies of Artists. She became a member of the Society of Portrait Sculptors in 1954 and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Sculptors in 1957.
