Marco Janco (1895-1984) was known internationally as a painter, printmaker, sculptor and architect. He was born in Bucharest, Romania, and at the outbreak of World War 1 he settled in Zurich, Switzerland. Along with fellow artist Hans Arp, Janco became an important figure in the DADA moveent. He later concentrated on Constructivism. During the 1930s he focused on architecture which he pursued on his return to his home city of Bucharest. After the progrom in Romania, Janco and his family moved to the British Mandate for Palestine (now Israel) in 1941 where he continued his work. He died in Ein Hod, Israel.
