Brian Blow (1931-2009) was a well-known painter, printmaker, sculptor and photographer. He was born in London and studied at the Sir John Cass School of Art in London, at the St Martin’s School of Art, and at Hornsey School of Art where he studied etching under Norman Janes. Blow exhibited with the Finsbury Art Group in the late 1950s and early 1960s and in various London galleries too. Later he worked at and exhibited at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop in Lumsden in Aberdeenshire in 1995 as he had a home nearby. He also lived in Kent. A solo show was held at Rocket Gallery in London in 1997 and in 1998 he had a show with the Hughson Gallery in Glasgow. Brian Blow’s work is held in a number of important collections, including the Tate Gallery and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
