Description: An original woodcut 'Happy Christmas' signed by the artist in ink at the left-hand edge 'Greetings from Sam and Michael Rothenstein'. 'Sam' was the artist's wife, who died in 2017. There is no stated edition. Presumably examples of this woodcut were sent to family and close friends. The work is framed and although not removed from the frame it appears to be in good condition with strong colour retention. There are two light vertical fold marks where the woodcut was neatly folded by the artist for dispatch. The black frame has a few small chips to it but is in serviceable order and ready to hang. It would make a great Christmas gift.
Size: About 7.3 x 9.5 inches visible paper size and about 14.5 x 17.5 inches framed size
