Title: 'Red Herring and French Onions in Blossom'
Description: A framed original painting in gouache on card, titled as above and with the name of the artist Jacob Bornfriend recto. This work was one of several greetings cards from the artist and his wife to the Slovakian born architect, Eugene Rosenberg (1907-1990) who fled to the UK from the Nazis in 1939 (we have other cards from the same source). It is inscribed inside by the artist as pictured and is signed inside by Bornfriend 'Happy X-mas Jacob and Pippa'. Although undated it is most likely to be circa 1963/65. The work is in good condition for its age. The provenance is the estate of the late Eugene Rosenberg. We have had the work mounted and framed to a good standard including with anti-reflective glazing (ARTGLASS AR 70).
Size: About 6.9 x 4.0 inches (about 17.5 x 10 cm) painted image size; and framed size 12.5 x 8.8 inches framed size (about 31.5 x 22.5 cm)
